January Challenge

Please click on image to enlarge

I'm new to Mary's monthly challenge, and after viewing some of the other lovely art, I'm honored to be in such creative company.  I used a favorite bit of cranberry print scrapbbook paper for the background, Mary's three vintage images, a bit of gold stamping, and some wonderful white vinyl embellishments that I've had for several years and never knew what to do with.  I enhanced them with a rub-on metallic finish, then added a few vintage postage stamps.  Lettering is not my strongest talent and don't have just the right stamp to add a caption of some sort, so this little collage will just have to speak for itself!

  1. This is wonderful - I'm a sucker for torn edges and yours are so well done here!

  2. I love what you have done with Mary's images, Susan. The pretty gold frame around the couple is so nice.

  3. Thank you for these comments, ladies. Looking at the collage this morning, I realize that once again, I was impatient to finish, noting several things I would have done differently as to composition, but no effort is wasted if I am learning, and I am patient about that! Have not coated this with any gel medium yet, so may work on it a bit more - tighten it up.

  4. Don't be so hard on yourself, Susan. There's rarely a piece of work I finish that I wouldn't do differently if doing it again. I bet I'm not alone in this. This is a sweet composition, and I love how you've picked out the pinks and creams. Well done!
